At a time when our nation is divided and wounded, broken by systemic racism, and tainted by the actions and inactions of those who have power
to make changes, we, the people of Oak Tree Presbyterian Church, offer this prayer:
Gracious God, our creator, redeemer, and sustainer, you called us to be your followers and the bearers of your Good News.
Grant us courage to follow you, the one who suffered for our sins and died on the cross to save this world from its own brokenness.
We pray for our brothers and sisters in this country who suffer injustice just because of the color of their skin; protect them from harm.
We pray for our police officers that they may act justly and not be blinded by prejudice.
We pray for this nation that is made up of multitudes of immigrants of all colors, ethnicities, and nationalities,
that we become ‘one nation under God’, and that our leaders truly serve the people.
We pray that you give us, your church, the spirit of understanding, the spirit of love, the spirit of compassion and kindness
that we may affirm with all your people diversity, inclusion, and equality of all people regardless of color, ethnicity, age, and gender.
Amen.
